After more than 12 years, new leaks suggest that a new installment in the Prototype series is currently in development, bringing back the original protagonist, Alex Mercer.​

These leaks emerged on Reddit, indicating that the game will be set in New York and will introduce new gameplay mechanics involving stealth and character impersonation.​

The primary source of these leaks is Insider Gaming, which reported information from a user named Bigbyy, who claims to have participated in an internal Activision study session where details about the new game were presented.​

It's worth noting that the Prototype series hasn't seen a new release since 2012's Prototype 2, where Alex Mercer appeared as an antagonist, and players controlled a new character named James Heller.​

These leaks are still unconfirmed, and there's no official announcement from Activision yet. However, if true, this could mark a significant comeback for the long-awaited series.​
