The New Tomb Raider Game: Open World, Society of Raiders, and the Secrets of Emperor Ashoka

Over two years ago, Crystal Dynamics announced a new installment of the Tomb Raider franchise, leaving fans eager for any updates. Now, new details have finally emerged, and this isn't just another typical adventure.

The new game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5 instead of the studio's old Foundation Engine, promising a massive technical leap. Amazon will publish the game, aiming to build a full Tomb Raider universe across games, movies, and TV shows.

Renowned leaker V Scooper revealed that the game will be open world, with Lara traversing vast zones using her motorcycle and parachute. Best part? If everything goes according to plan, the game could release in less than a year.

The story kicks off with a natural disaster in northern India, uncovering ancient ruins tied to Emperor Ashoka. Lara will race against a Society of Raiders—a group inspired by her but with their own conflicting agendas—to secure powerful relics.

The game will also feature a new mechanic where players can recruit allies to assist with missions, plus a non-lethal combat option, offering more gameplay flexibility.

Additional rumors from insider Miller Ross suggest that the game's development started much earlier than expected and that it will launch well ahead of Crystal Dynamics' other project, Perfect Dark.

Fans can expect a possible official reveal during the Summer Game Fest on June 7, so it won't be long before we get our first real look!

It’s clear Tomb Raider is making a bold comeback—not just with a new game, but an entire universe centered around the iconic Lara Croft.
